Growing Something New: The Journey of Reimagining the FaithX Board

By Erin Ramirez, Founder, Real Change Studios

In the fall of 2024, the FaithX team invited me to walk alongside them as they reimagined the future of their board. As an organizational scientist and founder of Real Change Studio, I help leaders and teams align purpose with creating change that matters, and that sticks.

When the team shared their vision to shift their board from being advisors to being a community of innovative, committed partners, I knew something special was about to grow. And I wanted to be part of it.

With deep appreciation for those who had faithfully served over the years, this wasn’t about discarding the past, but building upon it. The FaithX team saw an opportunity for deeper collaboration, wider reach, and bolder ideas. So, we started with a simple but powerful question: What could this next chapter of board leadership look like?

Now, as spring unfolds here in the Chicago area, I’ve found myself reflecting on this journey while tending my vegetable garden. This year, I started many plants from seed, including Brandywine tomatoes I’m growing for the first time. Like a healthy garden, building a board takes time, intention, and care.

In our first phase of work, we planted seeds: clarifying the board’s purpose, imagining its possible composition, and shaping the structure needed to support it. Like roots settling into the soil, this foundation brought clarity about what FaithX needs from its board, and how future members can contribute meaningfully to the mission.

Now, in this next phase, we’re seeing the first sprouts emerge. We’re actively recruiting new board members, preparing onboarding materials, and designing member experiences that foster connection and growth. Like my tomato plants reaching toward the sun, this board will continue to get stronger and have a bigger impact.

And we’d love for you to be part of this season of growth.

We’re seeking new board members who bring their unique gifts and a desire to serve. We are inviting folks who are grounded in purpose and ready to grow with a vibrant, mission-driven team. With the right people around the table, we know this board will bear incredible fruit.

If this speaks to you, or someone you know, we invite you to learn more here.

Now is the perfect time to explore the opportunity and see if this might be your season to grow something beautiful with FaithX: a community walking alongside churches and leaders to make data and purpose-driven decisions.
