FaithX Annual Report (2020)

Read the Annual Report (2019) from the FaithX Project, discussing how the vision-driven and experimental execution led to a great year.

By applying our own principles to ourselves we were able to discern the missional opportunities presented by the Coronavirus pandemic and respond with clear vision, data-grounded discernment, a readiness to experiment, and willingness to fail quickly and harvest the learnings.

Overview

Little did we know when we launched The FaithX Project in late 2016 how prophetical (and how soon) our vision statement – “Helping Congregations Survive and Thrive in Turbulent Time” – would turn out to be. 2020 was nothing if not turbulent: a once-in-a-century pandemic, a once-in-a-generation economic disruption, and after the murder of George Floyd by police, a societal upheaval unlike anything most of us have seen since the assassination of Martin Luther King,

Yet despite all these things, or perhaps because of the nimble way in which we responded to them, 2020 turned out to be a good year for The FaithX Project. Because of our focus on the importance of clear vision coupled with rapid experimentation for the future of faith communities, we were able to pivot quickly and flip our strategic model from top-down to bottom-up and create a pricing structure that allowed us to help congregations, whatever their ability to pay.

Our client base grew markedly during 2020 and our finances remained stable with help from a Paycheck Protection Plan loan. We started 2020 with just over 40 clients and $100,000 in revenue for the first time. By the end of 2020 we had more than doubled our client base and maintained sufficient net income to keep all staff employed through the Covid-induced economic crisis.

We foresee positive indicators for growth in 2021 and beyond.
